Making traceability the foundation of a global CSR strategy
An iconic brand in the board sports universe, Volcom has long been committed to responsible practices within its supply chain. As early as 2006, the brand introduced its first Code of Conduct, followed in 2007 by WRAP-based audits, and in 2014 by becoming an affiliated member of the Fair Labor Association.
With the evolution of French regulations, particularly the introduction of the AGEC law, Volcom, as part of the ONE TURN group, decided to further strengthen its approach by deploying a structured product traceability strategy. The ambition was twofold: ensure regulatory compliance and meet growing consumer expectations for transparency.
The traceability initiative was officially launched in 2022 for the Volcom and Spyder brands, with the objective of laying the groundwork for a broader CSR strategy.
From the outset, traceability was designed as a foundational pillar of Volcom’s responsible approach. More than a compliance exercise, it serves as a tool to better understand, monitor, and secure product data across the supply chain.
ONE TURN is currently structuring a dedicated CSR department, which will enable the group to formalize a comprehensive CSR strategy, enhance communication around its actions, and extend its initiatives toward overall impact reduction.
The project was initiated by the Supply Chain department and is led by Barbara Briquet, who oversees traceability across all ONE TURN brands. Her role is key in coordinating internal teams, engaging suppliers, and ensuring data consistency and reliability.
Before partnering with Trace For Good, ONE TURN had already implemented a traceability solution. However, the group decided to change tools to benefit from a more flexible, scalable solution with strong expertise in the textile sector.
At the same time, Volcom refined its traceability strategy by focusing on the main material of each product, which required a solution capable of adapting to this more targeted and pragmatic approach.
Trace For Good stood out thanks to:
Achieve 100% compliance with the AGEC law
Fully integrate suppliers into the traceability process
Mobilize internal stakeholders to ensure smooth and coordinated implementation
Rely on measurable indicators to monitor progress and performance

An intuitive interface, making it easier for both in-house teams and suppliers to use
Full automation of traceability and compliance, eliminating manual excel tracking
QR code integration: each product features an individual QR code printed on its hangtag, allowing consumers to instantly access verified traceability information
Today, Volcom traces its products at the style/composition level, focusing on essential information related to the main material and key manufacturing stages rather than tracing every color variant.
Trace For Good plays a central role in this process. The platform acts as a true data hub for traceability within ONE TURN, centralizing and structuring all information related to Volcom and Spyder products.

To enhance transparency, traceability information is communicated externally via QR codes on products and through the brand’s website.
